Moreover, they did this regardless of their fitness level or interest in exercise.

The Gamer’s Workout: Staying Fit While Gaming

To avoid joint problems and postural aches, gamers should incorporate the following 11 exercises into their gaming routine. These dynamic movements are designed to warm up the body for healthy gaming by focusing on the fingers, hands, wrists, and forearms. The Gamer’s Workout also includes a few isometric exercises to tone core muscles. To reduce muscle imbalances, gamers should include shoulder external rotation exercises in their warm-up.

Gamers should also focus on their posture by performing the Pigeon Stretch. Getting down on all fours and stretching your thoracic spine upward and downward helps to rebalance the shoulders and combat poor posture associated with long gaming sessions. Additionally, gamers should do a few simple core exercises by contracting their upper and lower abdominal muscles inwards, holding for a few seconds, and then releasing. To combat movement latency, gamers should also perform the Gamer’s Warm-up which consists of 10 finger and hand movements to improve grip strength and three eye movements that help improve accuracy.
